The Boa c. imperator from Colombia are the largest imperator boas. Adult females can reach 10 feet in length.
The average length of adult females is 6 - 7 ft, though. Males remain significantly smaller.
Almost all specimen show a calm temper. They are robust in health, good breeders and feeders. They often have a red tail (not as cherry-red as the Surinames, though). Therefore they are often called Colombian redtails.
There are several different forms. The exported animals are shipped out from Baranquilla and Letitia, but are caught in other regions.
Therefore using the term "Leticia variant" for a certain type of Colombian boa being kept in captivity in this part is wrong.
The boas that are actually found near Leticia are true redtails similar to Peruvian redtails.
Unfortunately the Colombian Boa c. imperator has very often been used for crossbreeding. Therefore it is extremely difficult to get proven true Colombian imperator boas.
